Summer School of Modern History

Two JDU doctoral students in history, Anna Wójcik and Adrian Musiał took part in the 11th edition of the Summer School of Modern History hosted by the Institute of National Remembrance (INR) which was held in the XIX-century Biały Pałac (White Palace) in Palczew from 4 to 9 September.
19 young researchers from different research centres in Poland had a great opportunity to attend lectures given by foremost Polish historians of modern history: dr hab. Mieczysław Ryba, ks. prof. Józef Marecki, dr. Rafał Łatka, dr hab. Grzegorz Berendt (prof. UG), dr hab. Krzysztof Szwagrzyk, dr hab. Patryk Pleskota, dr hab. Mirosław Szumiło, prof. Antoni Dudek, prof. Grzegorz Motyka, as well as listen to talks on the activities and the collections of the Institute Archives or the use of the Internet in the historian’s work.

During the seminars chaired by dr hab. Mirosław Szumiło, dr Władysław Bułhak and dr Rafał Łatka a discussion was preceded with the presentations of the outcomes of the participants’ research connected with their future PhD dissertations.

Our doctoral students prepared the papers on:
Anna Wójcik – „Ruch pacyfistyczny na ziemiach polskich w okresie dwudziestolecia międzywojennego” (‘Pacifist movement in interwar Poland’)
Adrian Musiał - „Prasa częstochowska w latach 1918-1939 i jej rola w rywalizacji politycznej na przykładzie wybranych tytułów” (‘Częstochowa’s Press in the years 1918-1939 and its role in a political rivalry; a case study of chosen titles’)
