By the decree issued on 29 January 2018, Anna Wypych-Gawrońska - the Rector of Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa was granted the title of full professor of humanities conferred by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland.
The ceremony of awarding the act of nomination to Professor Anna Wypych-Gawrońska by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda took place on 14 March 2018 in the Presidential Palace in Warsaw.
Professor Anna Wypych-Gawrońska graduated from the University of Silesia in the field of culture studies in 1989. She received her PhD in literature studies in 1995 defending her doctoral dissertation on Lviv theatre of opera and operetta in the years 1872–1918, and in 2007 she received her habilitation defending her post-doctoral dissertation on Warsaw theatre of opera in the years 1832–1880 at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. In January 2018 Professor Anna Wypych-Gawrońska was granted the title of full professor of humanities. Her areas of expertise include literary studies and the history of theatre.
Since the 1990s, Professor Anna Wypych-Gawrońska has been an active academic of Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa. Prior to her appointment as the Rector of Jan Długosz University on 1 September 2016, she held the position of Deputy Head for Research at the Institute of Polish Studies in 2006. In 2008 she was appointed Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Philology & History and in 2012 Vice-Rector for University Development.
Professor Anna Wypych-Gawrońska is a member of Adam Mickiewicz Literary Society and the Polish Society for Theatre Research.
