Welcome to the Faculty of Mathematics & Natural Sciences:

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences leads scientific research and educates students in the exact and natural sciences, technical, medical sciences, health sciences and a physical education area. Scientific achievements, a large group of academic teachers, active raising of funds for financing research and didactic activities, a dynamic cooperation with national and foreign scientific centers - this is the strength of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The Faculty possesses professional and modern research laboratories equipped with a new generation equipment. The scientific results of research conducted by Faculty’s academic staff are cited in the most famous scientific journals and are highly rated at international conferences and scientific symposia. The Faculty has the right to confer the doctor’s degree in Chemistry and Physics and offers third cycle (PhD) programmes in those fields. The research projects result in numerous implementations in industry. The specialties offered by the Faculty connect the modernity and the teaching tradition, which is friendly for students. Our students have the opportunity to undergo internships in industrial and scientific centres in the country and abroad. The programmes with a double diploma are implemented, too. Students have the possibility to realise a part of the study programme at a partner’s university and obtain two diplomas.
Studying at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences gives the opportunity to develop students' individual needs in offered modern teaching methods through a personal academic tutoring system, and gives a real chance to find an interesting and satisfying job in the future.

Scientific seminars

Authorities of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences with the Directorates of individual institutes of FMNS organise seminars for all staff and students of the Faculty. The seminars are in the form of organised scientific activities of the Faculty that focus on current scientific and cognitive issues. Our guest speakers are known and respected academics from the scientific world. The seminars are also an opportunity to present research topics of the FMNS employees.
To participate in the seminars, the FMNS invite all interested JDU staff and students not associated with our University. We also welcome other university staff and secondary school students. The announcement of a planned seminar is published two weeks before the seminar on the Faculty's home page in the news.
